While I was reading through the books of Mathew 20, the phrase workers in the vineyards caught my attention and this reminded me of my introductory story. Here, we are made to see an illustration of individuals working in a vineyard to achieve a common goal and how they are paid the same wages at the end of the day. What does this mean to us as believers? just as the bible records it in 1 Cor 12: 1-27, we are all different parts of the same body working towards the same goal of populating the kingdom of God, we should not overestimate ourselves.
In Mathew 20, the bible records it that those that have been working in the vineyard since dawn and those who just joined an hour to the end of the time received the same reward. This could also remind us that irrespective of when an individual receives Christ there is the gift of eternity awaiting such at the end of time. This also shows that Christ is merciful as verse 13 records that even though some workers joined late, He still rewarded them as if they had been there from onset. This also vets what we have in 1 Cor 10: 12, "As anyone who believes they are standing firm should take heed lest they fall" as in the case of the older workers asking beyond their initial agreement.
In conclusion brethren, this is a charge to every worker in the vineyard (Church), to be mindful of our service before our creator, be steadfast in whatsoever position we are graced to occupy and always bear it in mind that we are part of the whole body of Christ. We should as well deliver our service fearlessly for a time is coming when we will individually give an account of all that is laid in our hands.
PRAYER POINT: Lord Jesus Grant me the ability to work tirelessly in your vineyard in order to be fruitful..
