AN ENSIGN

Have you seen a naval ensign before? an ensign is used to distinguish ships of different nations or to characterize different sector or level of the same navy. An ensign can also be synonymously called a badge or a mark of distinction of rank or office.

Talking about an ensign from a spiritual angle, an ensign biblically is a signal to assemble or to give a notice to someone about a particular thing. It could be seen in the book of Isaiah that the lord had his hands stretched out still in delivering judgement to His so called people due to their disobedience and sins. The father loves his chosen people but would not spare them whenever they erred, hence the reason for the pronounced judgement in the early chapters of Isaiah.

Our Ancient of days, is known to be a merciful father no wonder He had it in the very chapters 10-12 to raise an ensign to his people in order to call them from various parts of the world they must have been scattered to due to their recalcitrant attitude. Abba, is also using this medium to call us as several atrocities is the order of the day in the world we live in now, He's raising his son which is Jesus, sent to the world to call us together and be saved (Isaiah 11:10). For this purpose, his blood was shed on the cross of Calvary as a redemption for our souls. He does not care about the magnitude of our sins, He's more concerned about the salvation of our souls. We need to acknowledge this great call by the father and be saved.

PRAYER POINT: Jehovah, help me to acknowledge your grace over my life and to realize an ensign is raised already for me and be able to live according to your expectations of me. Amen!!!

Workers in the vineyard

When I was younger, I remembered visiting a marble company, There I saw different stages of how the marble is being processed and finally done. I remembered that the several stages in the production was allocated to different people to ensure a smooth and successful completion of the marble. While I was reading through the books of Mathew 20, the phrase workers in the vineyards caught my attention and this reminded me of my introductory story. Here, we are made to see an illustration of individuals working in a vineyard to achieve a common goal and how they are  paid the same wages at the end of the day. What does this mean to us as believers? just as the bible records it in 1 Cor 12: 1-27, we are all different parts of the same body working towards the same goal of populating the kingdom of God, we should not overestimate ourselves. In Mathew 20, the bible records it that those that have been working in the vineyard since dawn and those who just joined an hour to the end of ...

FUEL IT UP!!!

When I was in primary school I was part of the girls guide. we usually go for weekend camping in any agreed location and I remember that whenever we were at camp, we always have the camp fire at night and everyone will be dancing around it. Whenever the fire goes down, we will put leaves and some other petrochemical substances to enable it burn well. Going through the books of Mathew 25, the story of the 10 virgins ignited a spark in me and I realized instantly that to keep anything burning, we need substances to fuel it up just as we did at the camp whenever the camp fire goes down. Also, most of us have generators in our various homes and I can imagine how much we would feel helpless when we cannot get fuel to power our generators especially when we have a very interesting show coming up or a football match and the electricity distribution company decided to keep the light off. Brethren, reading through Mathew 25: 1-13, we would have a better understanding of what it means to fu...

BEHIND THE SCENES

If someone wants to write and pass an examination, I want to believe that a successful candidate will want to ensure that no stone is left to guarantee such individual's success. I remembered a scenario I found myself during my final examination. You know that euphoria of "I am now a finalist" did grip me and I failed to prepare adequately before the final examination day and the funniest part was I was trusting in seat formation as we always say then in Uni as I believed that if I could have a good seat arrangement I would tap from my colleagues who were more knowledgeable. Behold, a very strict invigilator was in attendance that fateful day and the whole plan was distorted. Remembering this issue and going through the books of Esther, Daniel and 2nd Chronicles gave me a deeper understanding of the three words "Behind the Scenes". What does this even mean scripturally? Before I give a definition I would like to make another illustration to buttress my earlier ...
